An application for window work at Craigiehall in South Queensferry proposes double-glazed upgrades to existing sash-and-case windows. Edinburgh’s current dossier lists the case as Awaiting Assessment and records no decision.
A contractor’s programme submitted with the application proposes fitting slim-profile heritage double-glazed units into existing sash frames wherever practicable. It says sashes beyond economical repair would be replaced to match the originals, while the existing cases would be repaired and restored where possible.

The contractor’s survey says only four original ground-floor windows were suitable for repair and conservation, describing the remaining original windows as beyond economical repair. The programme proposes reproducing the original 1695 sash design in the Sir William Bruce part of the building and matching windows in William Burn’s additions to that phase’s design. These are the applicant’s survey findings and proposed works, not a council assessment.
