South Lanarkshire's application summary records P/25/1146 as approved. The permission concerns a 103-metre meteorological mast in a rural field in the Hagshaw Hill wind-farm cluster, west of Douglas and northeast of Glespin. The applicant sought temporary use for five years to collect wind data; the council report says the measurements would inform renewable energy development.
A delegated report dated 19 November 2025 recommended granting the proposal subject to conditions. These include aviation-safety measures and bird diverters on the mast's guy wires. The mast and associated works are to be removed, use discontinued and land restored by 19 November 2030.

A separate South Lanarkshire application, P/26/0961, is a registered Section 36 consultation for the Hagshaw Hill III energy project. The records reviewed do not establish whether the mast or its measurements support that proposal, or whether the mast has been installed.
