A specialist archaeology response on the Hagshaw Hill III energy proposal says the applicant's proposed measures for physical impacts are acceptable, but the final archaeological response still depends on further design.
The West of Scotland Archaeology Service set out that view in a response dated 14 September 2026 on South Lanarkshire consultation file P/26/0961. The file describes a Section 36 consultation for a scheme combining wind turbines, solar and long-duration battery storage. The service says the final level of archaeological response will be decided once more design detail is available and recorded in an archaeological written scheme of investigation.
A July 2025 applicant scoping letter in another South Lanarkshire record says the proposed development is in South Lanarkshire and the applicant intends to seek permission from Scottish Ministers under Section 36. It also says the project's parameters may change during environmental assessment, so early scoping figures should not be treated as a final design.
The September reply settles a narrow point: the specialist service considers the submitted approach to physical-impact mitigation acceptable. It does not establish the final archaeological work, a ministerial decision, a final project layout or construction. South Lanarkshire's current consultation record remains Registered.
