Scottish Borders Council has registered a listed-building consent application for roof repairs and alterations at Stoneyhill on Galashiels Road in Walkerburn. Application 26/01403/LBC was received on 18 September and validated on 22 September. The council description calls it a revision of listed-building consent 25/01106/LBC.
The papers frame the work as a maintenance problem as well as a roof replacement. The applicant’s design statement says parts of the roof leak, some accommodation below has been unused or underused for decades, and clearing leaves and snow from concealed valleys is difficult and hazardous.

The application includes plans for existing and proposed roof layouts, a roof-condition report and a design statement. The applicant proposes reslating selected areas, replacing several flat-roof coverings with insulated single-ply membranes, and adding or changing rooflights and access openings so the hidden valleys can be reached for maintenance. The statement says refurbishment of rooms beneath the bathroom-corridor and orangery roofs would require separate applications.
The current CityScope dossier records the application as Registered and contains no decision. The roof works remain a proposal.
